Ivory Coast's export promotion agency, Côte d'Ivoire Export, launched a 500mn FCFA (€762,000) program on October 23 to help 30 Ivorian companies sell abroad, with the aim of raising their export sales by at least 20%, Koaci reported. The program, financed by the industrial upgrading fund FREMIN, runs until the end of May 2027.
Analysis: The support averages about 16.7mn FCFA (€25,400) per company, by our calculation, a modest amount compared with Ivory Coast's 12,354bn FCFA (€18.8bn) in goods exports in 2024. Results will depend on which firms receive the funds and how they use them. The 2026-2030 development plan aims to raise industry's share of GDP to 30% by 2030, including through more exports of processed goods. The agency has not identified recipients or explained the starting point for its 20% export-growth goal. The program ends in May 2027, when progress may be assessed.

Importers of frozen horse mackerel and mackerel in Ivory Coast cut the price of a 20-kilogram carton to 30,500 FCFA (€46.50) from 33,000 FCFA (€50.31) at a meeting chaired by Commerce Minister Kalil Konaté on October 22, state daily Fraternité Matin reported. Retail traders now pay 31,500 FCFA (€48.02) a carton instead of 36,500 FCFA (€55.64), the fishing industry body Interpêche said on October 24.
Analysis: Retail traders reported a 13.7% price cut, much larger than September's 1.9% annual increase in food prices. Importers and intermediaries each agreed to reduce their margins by 2,500 FCFA (€3.81) per carton, according to Interpêche, indicating that the lower selling price is being absorbed within distribution. The ministry described the change as temporary, while negotiations continue over roughly 20 other imported fish species. No new prices have been set for those products. ANStat's October inflation report, expected in mid-November, could show whether the mackerel reduction affects broader food prices.

The composite index of the regional stock exchange BRVM, based in Abidjan, closed at 534.74 points on October 26, 2.8% above its October 21 close, the exchange said in its official daily bulletin. The index had fallen 4.9% from October 9 to October 21 but stood 54.7% higher than at the start of the year. Equity market capitalization rose to 20,970bn FCFA (€32.0bn) from 20,402bn FCFA (€31.1bn) on October 21.
Analysis: The recovery restored roughly 567bn FCFA (€865mn) in market capitalization, more than half of the 1,043bn FCFA (€1.59bn) lost between October 9 and 21, by our calculation. The exchange did not explain the decline or rebound, and there is insufficient evidence to attribute them to profit-taking. The moves followed new listings, including Bridge Bank Group Côte d'Ivoire, whose July share offer attracted more than 17,000 subscribers. Trading in Sonatel following its October 26 share split may provide another indication of demand from smaller investors, but does not explain the earlier market moves.

Ivory Coast's energy minister, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, launched work on three solar plants with a combined 152 megawatts-peak (MWp) in the north between October 22 and October 24, Sika Finance reported. They include a 52 MWp plant at Tongon, costing an estimated 33bn FCFA (€50.3mn) and developed by Ivorian-owned Tongon Solaire, and a 50 MWp plant at Binguébougou, near Korhogo, developed by Emirati group AMEA Power.
Analysis: The planned plants would more than double the country's existing 136 MW of grid-connected solar capacity, though solar would remain a small part of the 3,019 MW installed in 2024. The projects could provide work for construction, solar equipment and grid companies. Tongon Solaire is responsible for financing, building and operating its plant for 25 years and expects nearly 500 construction jobs. Financing has not been announced. Tongon is now scheduled to begin construction in 2027 and start operating by mid-2028, later than the end-2027 commissioning date previously given by the government.

Australian-listed Perseus Mining's two Ivorian gold mines, Yaouré and Sissingué, produced 36,648 and 20,073 ounces, respectively, in the July–September quarter, together 15.4% less than in the previous quarter, the company said on October 27. Perseus said planned maintenance shutdowns cut mill running time at Yaouré, while its group average realized gold price fell to $3,881 an ounce from $4,086.
Analysis: The two mines produced about 1.8 metric tons in the quarter, equivalent to roughly 12% of Ivory Coast's average quarterly 2025 output, by our calculation. Perseus maintained production guidance of 215,000 to 255,000 ounces for the year to June 2027 and expects better ore grades in the second half. That outlook points to a possible recovery, but it is not guaranteed. Yaouré's all-in site cost rose to $2,393 per ounce, above guidance, while realized prices fell 5%, adding pressure on margins. The next quarterly update, typically issued in late January, may show whether performance improved.
