About

Alama Report

A weekly newsletter on African economies, edited in Dakar: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo, with more countries to come.

Every Thursday at 08:00 GMT, Alama Report sums up in five minutes what moved the economies of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo, country by country: trade, prices, energy, regulation and public tenders. Every story is built on official sources, each one cited, and every figure can be checked.

The newsletter is free, in English and French. Alama Pro, the full paid edition, adds the analysis of every story, a weekly deep dive, key figures tracked month by month and open public tenders.

Who we are

Alama Report is edited and managed by a small team passionate about Africa’s events, economy and development, made up of freelance economists, analysts and journalists. Every story and every figure is checked and approved before publication.

Alama Report was founded by Andrew Shatalin, a business management advisor and operator based in West Africa for over two decades.

How we work

Our methodology explains how every number gets into the newsletter. Our editorial standards cover sources, corrections and how we use artificial intelligence tools.
