Senegal's industrial producer prices, excluding cotton ginning, rose 9.3% year-on-year in August 2026, accelerating from 8.6% in July, according to statistics agency ANSD, as reported by Le Journal de l'Economie Sénégalaise. Prices increased 1.3% from the previous month, while those for extractive products, including mining output, climbed 18.0% from a year earlier, up from 17.3% in July.
Analysis: Annual producer price inflation has accelerated for two consecutive months, rising from 6.9% in June to 9.3% in August, with prices increasing about 3.5% over July and August combined. The trend points to growing price pressures at the factory gate, which could eventually feed through to construction materials, chemicals and other manufactured products. Industrial buyers negotiating new supply contracts may face higher prices first. ANSD's September figures, expected in mid-November, should show whether the upward trend continues.
